Graham’s major art interest is in the ebb and flow of regional Australia, focusing on regional urban landscapes, the buildings, structures and activities of interest. He believes regional Australia is mistreated or at best ignored by governments and the self-absorbed city-based institutions and instrumentalities.
Modern Art, Surrealism and the metaphysical in particular, is a major influence Graham’s work. Inspiration comes from artists such as Edgar Degas, Paul Cézanne, Vincent van Gogh, Juan Gris, Giorgio de Chirico, Marsden Hartley, Edward Hopper, Hans Hofmann, Lloyd Rees, James Gleeson and Rick Amor.
