Medium: Painting & drawing
Painting and drawing have been a constant grounding in Mary-Jane’s life. She often uses found and familiar objects set in everyday surroundings and distorts the point of view or perspective. Strong images are formed like sculpture on the canvas with rich colour, bold and delicate design and patterns.
There are elements in M-J’s work which relates to her original training as a graphic designer and illustrator.
M-J’s desire to paint prompted her return to the family property where she began painting in the studio part time and worked in the wool and horticulture industries as well. This lead to three major exhibitions: Crisp art glass gallery, Yass; Grosvenor Place, Sydney CBD and Artarmon Galleries, Sydney.
Art, as in life, comes in chapters and creation comes in many forms. For MJ that meant becoming a mother and giving birth to twins. Now they are of an age to attend school she has returned to part time painting and looking forward to working towards future exhibitions.
