Alice’s Adventures in Antarctica
Alice Giles, received an Australian Antarctic Division Arts Fellowship to travel to Antarctica in February and March 2011. During her visit she taped footage of performances on her elctro-acoustic harp, documenting works by Australian composers and works connected with her grandfather Cecil Madigan’s experiences there.

Triantan in Concert
Triatan is Gaelic for “Triangle”. The group features three fine and powerful singers, Judy Pinder, Miguel Heatwole and Anthony Woolcott. They perform Irish and Scottish songs that will raise the hairs on the back of your neck. Triantan have a broad range of traditional and modern material, in English as well as Gaelic, weaving harmonies in the melodic, unaccompanied style which has become their trademark

The Strelitzia Trio
This trio, formed in 2008, won the prestigious Sydney Eisteddfod Musica Viva Chamber Music Award in 2009. It consists of Victoria Jacono-Gilmovich (violin), Eleanor Betts (cello) and Lindsay Gilmore (piano). They perform a wide range of music from the great classics to modern masterpieces.

‘Art of Truth Compassion, Tolerance’ exhibition

This International Exhibition of 12 artists’ work tells the story of the peaceful meditation practice, Falun Gong. Many of the artists have themselves experienced the brutal persecution started by the Chinese government in 1999 and have documented their experience through their art.

While confronting, the exhibition is a tribute to the enduring human spirit and the capacity of compassion to overcome aggression and violence.

When: 10am to 5pm on the 30 Sept, 1st and 2nd October (also from 7pm till 9pm on Saturday 1st October).
