In February 2010 we lost a great artist of the Yass Valley Shire. It is with fondness and respect that we remember Roger Moore whose every action in life was a work of art. The following is an excerpt from the Yass Tribune Thursday, 9 March 2006
Our own Roger Moore
by Luke Merriman
Yes, there is a Roger Moore in Yass. Maybe not the 007 man but one almost as famous in his field. If you haven’t heard of OUR Roger Moore, he is famous for his creativity and determination through a life-threatening illness. Mr Moore was raised near Bega, and was specially schooled at the London Central School of Arts and Crafts after moving to England at the age of 19. Returning to Australia in the early 1960′s, Mr Moore then taught part-time at the National Art School, was a visiting lecturer at the National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA), was on the Executive Committee of the Society of Interior Designers of Australia and has taught as a Subject Master at Cumberland High in Carlingford NSW.
He was invited to work with the famous contemporary art association Arts International De La Cote D’Azure in France in 1991 and has shown his works in Japan, Canada, the United States, England, France and Spain
