Cathy Pearsall was born in Newcastle and spent some of her early life in Yass Valley Shire. Eight years ago, when she retired from her work in nursing and aged care and returned to the district.
Cathy has had no formal art training but has attended summer schools and workshops exploring different mediums, including calligraphy.
Several years ago when living in Boorowa she organised a successful exhibition called ‘Three Generations of Art’ featuring her work as well as her mother’s and grandmother’s. Three generations of portrait painters, in Cathy’s opinion, suggests a ‘genetic gift’.
Another fund-raising exhibition, organised in Boorowa was called “Art and Glass” which featured artworks by Cathy and glass by Peter Minson who has a Gallery at Binalong.
Travels in the outback, generally around May, have given her much inspiration for her artwork and she has travelled on a couple of occasions with the Canberra Art Society.
Cathy now assists her friend, artist Margaret Carr, with the U3A artgroup.
