Fluffy purple violins are all part of the course for Leanne Bear. She is a creator of mixed-media performances of contemporary classical violin music, effects, improvisation, film and image, artist’s books and installation. Her goal in life is to provide warmth and whimsy in this often dark and painful world.
Leanne Bear, Bachelor of Music (U.Q.) is an established violinist, with such highlights as:
an Australian tour in the Pereira Quartet with Leigh Warren and Dancers, soloist with the Canberra Symphony Orchestra in Andrew Ford’s Furry Dance, and Performing tutor at Mt Buller Chamber Music School in the middle of the bushfires.
As a composer/artist, Bear has exhibited, performed and busked some of her works in various venues in London, Prague, Italy and in Amsterdam at the Ijsbreker. Periods as visiting artist at the ANU Schools of Art and Music, plus other performance and art opportunities have helped foster her passion for merging art forms.
