From a tender age Meryl Hunter was either writing or drawing and has continued to do so.

She was instrumental in forming Canberra Stories Group which has published seven books of social histories and she has also written articles for the Canberra Times, Yass Tribune, and various historical journals in the ACT and Victoria.

Meryl was then invited to write her own book which she promptly did! Entitled Over my Shoulder it was launched by Robert Macklin (retired Arts Editor for The Canberra Times). Meryl Hunter continues to write and she has recently finished a history of the Murrumbateman Field Days.

On the visual arts side of things Meryl’s drawing evolved into etching and print making as well as pastel and water color painting. She continues to write for the Yass Tribune and is also a member of Yass Writers, dabbling briefly in poetry. As if that wasn’t enough she surrounds herself with literature by working amongst books in both the Yass and Murrumbateman libraries.
