YASS MUSIC CLUB SCHOLARSHIPS

Published by under Exhibitions

The Yass Music Club RAG Holmes Scholarship holders presented a wonderful concert on October 13th at St Clements Church. The performers were Rowan Phemister (harp), Ruth Giddy (piano and violin), Patrick Dodd (piano), Jessica Granger (violin) and Samuel Giddy (piano and organ). The scholarship encourages local senior school musicians who are serious about developing their music skills and the concert provides a wonderful opportunity for the musicians to play in front of a live audience.

The scheme has been operating for several years but it’s only in the last five years that there has been an annual concert. There are no restrictions on the instruments played and these have included guitar, clarinet and even drums in previous years.

If anyone is interested in applying for a scholarship for 2014 please contact Ros on 62261878.

TURNING WAVE NEEDS YOU!

Published by under Exhibitions

The Turning Wave Festival Needs You2012 saw the inaugural Turning Wave music festival in Yass. Turning Wave is a celebration of Irish and Australian music and to say that it’s relocation to Yass was a success would be an understatement.

This year will be even bigger with more local musicians involved – but with this comes the need for more assistance. The organizers are in need of volunteers and to this end YASSarts is helping put the word out. Its a great weekend and it’s good for local business and the region’s cultural tourism.

So if you”d like to get involved contact volunteers@turningwave.org.au or phone Judy Pinder on 0419 498 362.
