PAINT A PARK TABLE PROJECT

Published by under Exhibitions

Recently, Yass Valley Council identified that the picnic tables in Coronation Park, Yass, needed replacing.  Counciller Chris McHargh suggested the existing ones be revamped in a community youth arts project aimed at restoring the tables with wonderful painted graphics.  The project was co-ordinated by Cathy Campbell, Community Development Manager at Yass Valley Council.  It involved members of the Youth Council and local schools and was run by artists for artists.

Paint materials were generously sponsored by Derivan paints, who were lobbied by YASSarts, and the rest was funded by Yass Valley Council. (the total cost coming out at a fraction of the cost of replacing the tables).

So if you find yourself in Yass one day with time on your hands, stroll down to the park and have a look at the vibrant art on display by our up and coming artists.
